Connections: Back to the Future

Back to the Future Back to the Future

What’s Old is New Again

In a year that started slowly, opened tenuously, evolved excitingly and ended strong, travel gained enthusiastic momentum. A fantastic time in Winter in Yellowstone warmed the way for two of our classic tours this spring, Cape Cod, The Islands & Newport and Charleston and Savannah. More land journeys, small ship and river cruises followed as we welcomed guests, first in the United States, then in Latin America, Europe and Africa. When Canada reopened this fall, our guests eagerly joined us, grateful to once again explore the world next door.

We navigated an ever-changing landscape of restrictions, regulations, stops and starts, but thanks to our colleagues, our guests and our travel partners, 2021 reflected our shared resilience – and rewards, as evidenced by a letter we received from a guest who traveled with us this year.

“We believe we have forged lifelong friendships, and that Tauck has just gained another 6 customers who, like my parents, will be ‘lifetime customers’ who return again and again, and who evangelize to others about just how unique Tauck really is. Again – THANK YOU to all of you.  Please let everyone know – including Arthur Tauck himself – that we appreciate ALL you are doing for us, and that the Tauck legacy was actually enhanced by what could have been a devastating experience.  Arthur is right:  the sights are incredible, the food is epicurean, the special events are epic but it all comes down to this in the end: ‘It’s all how you make us feel!’  And we feel special indeed.”  – Dave Edwards

Testimonies like that never fail to inspire us to raise the bar for our guests as we operate our classic favorites and introduce new journeys in destinations around the world.

The new travel experiences we had planned to debut in 2020 were postponed until this year and next, including the once-in-a-decade floral festivities at Floriade outside of Amsterdam, a village-wide Passion Play 2,000 years in the making, the glacial beauty of Alaska’s Inside Passage, and a nostalgic steamboat ride down the storied Mississippi River, Mark Twain style. We thought we’d take the opportunity to tell you more about them in this last issue of Connections.

Join us as we look forward to an exciting year of travel in 2022 with thanks and gratitude to everyone whose passion for travel continues to enrich our world.

  1. We have missed traveling with Tauck. The company had to cancel our last 2 trips. One to England Scotland and Wales and the other to the northern part of Italy including Lake Como.

We have a trip planned for next summer to England, Scotland and Wales and are looking forward to it with much anticipation.

  2. We did back-to-back African safaris. We were not only impressed by the beauty and animals of Africa but impressed by the flexability and “can do” attitude of our Tauck guides. Whether it was locating lost luggage or arranging Covid-19 tests (we did 6), even though it probably wasn’t on their job description, they got the job done. My old Army Sergeant had a saying “Hang loose and Stay flexable” Our Tauck guides certainly proved him right.

  3. I strongly believe that travels connect friends, cultures and histories. It was the best education in my life.

  4. We’re enjoying connections. It’s nice to put names with faces and to see some remembered faces. We agree with all the previous comments by fellow travelers. We are coming up on our 12th trip with Tauck in April to see the Tulips. We could never and would never travel with any other company. The reasons include the first person we speak with in reservations to the last person as our journey ends, everyone and everything in between.
    Thank you wonderful experiences.

  5. My wife and I will only travel with you. Your sales reps are amazing. Helpful, sincere, informative, knowledgeable, and outstanding examples of Customer service. Thank them all and have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

  6. Our trip in 2021 to Peru and the Galapagos could not have been better. From a health perspective we felt extremely safe—their vaccination rates were better than the US. Masks were taken seriously. Manchu Pichu was awesome and we saw 14 out of the top 15 animals/birds in the Galapagos. People in both Peru and Ecuador were so kind and welcoming. A truly meaningful trip!

  7. Connections Newsletter #3: What We Missed Most edition was a joy to read. The videos that accompanied the newsletter really made me miss traveling with Tauck during the last couple of years and really yearning for time to speed up so May 2022 will be here and I will be traveling with Tauck again.

  8. We are looking forward to our 10th trip with Tauck in May 2022. Looking at number 11 in August. The Tauck trips are the best from start to finish!
