Our business is built on trusted relationships. In particular, the connections we have with suppliers are at the very heart of delivering the guest experience you have come to expect and deserve from Tauck. Our supplier partners don’t see you simply as guests, but rather as extended family members. The outbreak of COVID-19 put unprecedented strain on our global supply base. The economic and emotional impact on people and organizations who have built their business around travel was orders of magnitude greater than anything experienced before. Despite all of this, our partners never once strayed from putting the Tauck guest among the first of their considerations. The innovation, patience and commitment they have demonstrated over the last year has been remarkable. When travel does resume, we can rest assured that the quality and safety of the Tauck experience will be the best it can be. We have our partners to thank for that. And they have our ever-lasting appreciation.
We’ve remained in close contact with our long-standing travel partners around the world during the past nine months despite our sorely missed visits with them. I’d like to share some news that we received from our long-time partner Arno Reitsma, Scylla CEO and owner. While his ships were on pause, his company was busy adapting their operations to the new reality. They not only ramped up their ships and services with an array of safety and wellness protocols necessitated by COVID-19, they raised the bar in guest care. Their boats were the first back on the river this past summer as they tested the waters with local residents in Germany. Our own Amber Youell, who lives in Basel, Switzerland, joined them on a cruise, reporting back that “Even with the extra safety precautions (which were meticulously maintained), the atmosphere was relaxed and elegant, with the same amazing service we always receive on board” – and they can’t wait to welcome Tauck back onboard.
