Traditional New Orleans Jazz in the French Quarter
One of the highlights on Life on the Mississippi and New Orleans and Mississippi Country is a visit to Preservation Hall for a private performance of the legendary Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Bourbon Street has been a little quiet these days – but the music keeps playing! There were some “silver linings” this year that Ron Rona, Artistic Director, of Preservation Hall told us about and we’ve shared with you below, including: capturing intimate and insightful conversations with the performers of Preservations Hall, setting up an entire music curriculum for school aged kids to learn jazz music soup to nuts, and honoring legendary jazz musicians that have contributed to the fabric of New Orleans culture.
