Enchanted Islands – The Galápagos

The Enchanted Isles The Enchanted Isles

Klaus FielschJoin us for an in-depth presentation on the amazing Galápagos Islands with Klaus Fielsch, Product Manager and expert naturalist for travel partner Metropolitan Touring. Klaus will provide a general overview of the Galápagos, as well as insights into the wildlife and natural habitats one might expect to see on a cruise to the “Enchanted Islands.” He’ll be introduced by David Lewey, Tour Architect for our small ship expeditionary cruises in the Galápagos archipelago.

Born in Quito to a German / Ecuadorian family, Klaus Fielsch has two passions – nature and design. He became fascinated with the study of nature when his father presented him with books by Alexander von Humboldt, Charles Darwin, Edward Whimper, Theodor Wolf (the unknown “Naturalist of Ecuador”), Konrad Lorenz and more – and he pursued his passion for design during studies at renowned US universities in the 1990s. Today, his career with Metropolitan enables him to share his passion for Galápagos and nature with colleagues to in turn bring to guests.

  1. Some years ago when I was a 7/8th grade educator, Scientific America had a wonderful teaching program. called Scientific American Frontiers. Alan Aldi was the narrator. One of the episodes was on The Galapagos. We were allowed to copy the TV program to use in our classrooms while using the planned lessons provided to educators by Scientific America. Not only did my students find this interesting, meaningful and fun, but as a teacher I too learned a great deal. I vowed then I would someday visit these beautiful, magical islands and am still hopeful this will someday come true,
Having just returned from a most wonderful Tauck trip to Jordan, Petra and Egypt I believe a visit to The Galapagos will be possible. I say this because I can still remember siting in my fourth grade classroom, opening the big, green Geography book, seeing The Great Giza Pyramid, and thinking, I will one day visit this. I was about 10 at that time. I am now 81 and it came true.
The recent Tauck trip was one of the best adventures I have ever had. Our tour guide, Dina Ebeid ,made the tour one that none of us will ever forget. How fortunate your travel company is to have such a bright, friendly and loving person sharing her life, her love of travel and gift of knowledge with others.
I will keep The Galapagos in my travel plans for a future trip.
    Best regards,
    Molly T.

  2. I visited the Galápagos Islands some years ago with another supplier but did not hear the story about the giant tortoise migrations. Traveling with Tauck is the ultimate way to tour and learn about the destination.
