I’m Megan Harvist and I’ve been with Tauck for over 14 yrs – at first as an Operations Manager and currently as a Reservations Sales Counselor. In November of 2019 I ran the training trip for our re-designed Scandinavia land journey, leading a team of TDs thru Sweden, Denmark and Norway. It was a truly magical time to be in that area – I felt like Elsa from the Disney movie Frozen! And just like Elsa from time to time on that trip I had to learn to “Let It Go” – there were definitely some tense moments as we all worked together to orchestrate and perfect every detail of the itinerary.
Each country had wonderful highlights and warm greetings from Tauck partners who have worked with us for decades. My Tauck Moment occurred at the Hotel Alexandra in Norway set on beautiful Lake Loen. We were having dinner at the expansive buffet – so expansive that I nearly missed an entire section of culinary delights! We had a good laugh and spent the rest of the meal in relaxed conversation, connecting about our lives. We were even joined by some locals who wanted to share in the fun! Later that evening, I looked out on the lake and reflected on how so much of the magic of travel lies in the connections that are made along the way and how lucky I was to be in that place, at that time, truly enjoying the journey.
Every time a call comes into Res for this region I am immediately transported back to that moment. I may be working from home at my kitchen counter but I’m also enjoying a stunning, peaceful view of the Nordfjord and remembering the times spent with colleagues in and from a part of the world I had only seen depicted in movies before. It is an important reminder that I am not only booking guests on a trip, but on an experience they can take with them for the rest of their lives – which is what Tauck has provided to so many for a century.
