Golden Eagle Danube Express with Tim Littler,
company founder of Golden Eagle Luxury Trains Limited
Join us for a very special presentation with Tim Littler, company founder of Golden Eagle Luxury Trains Limited, for a special look at the century-old art of European rail travel and Golden Eagle Danube Express, our train partner on one of our newest journeys, A Grand Rail Adventure: Milan, the Alps & Vienna. Tim will share personal insights on the train, which reflects his years of experience that combined an enthusiasm for travel – and the romance of Europe’s rail journeys – together to form a company that today is one of the leading worldwide long distance luxury rail tour providers. Our Tour Architect, Mihaela Weaver, provides an introduction.
A Grand Rail Adventure: Milan, the Alps & Vienna (8 days / 7 nights, limited 2021 departures) features a 3-night rail journey, exclusive to Tauck, on Golden Eagle Danube Express – with only 58 Tauck guests aboard. Journey through Italy, Switzerland, Austria, and Lichtenstein in search of art, castles, wine, and culinary discoveries, along some of Europe’s most scenic mountain railways. Running east or west, our eastbound journey begins with two nights in Milan at the prestigious Hotel Excelsior…. then a rail odyssey through Central Europe including Lake Como’s chic towns and promenades… the plunging granite valleys and soaring alpine peaks, twisting turns and tunnels of St. Gotthard Pass… to Lake Lucerne, Zurich and Liechtenstein… Innsbruck and a cruise on Lake Achen… and ending with two nights in Vienna at the premier art deco masterpiece, Hotel Bristol.
Along the way you’ll appreciate the camaraderie of train travel and Golden Eagle’s reputation for impeccable personal service, first-class cuisine, and a bar lounge that stays open every night until the last guest leaves. Seasoned travelers know that how you get there is as important as the destination itself – and as novelist Paul Theroux observed, “…if the train is comfortable enough, you don’t even need a destination.”
We’ve put together some videos to give you additional information.
Great blog. Love Tauck innovation
